Hi-Tech Scotland reporter | Friday July 11, 2008

Cisco has announced the appointment of Donald McLaughlin to lead Cisco in Scotland. Donald will take on the role at the beginning of Cisco’s new Fiscal Year on 28th July.

Donald McLaughlin, 43, said: “As a Scot myself, I’m delighted to take on this role. Cisco’s business in Scotland has grown massively and I am looking forward to building on this success”.

Donald replaces Gordon Thomson, who moves from his current role to Director, Sales Strategy & Planning in Worldwide Sales Strategy & Planning. Gordon will continue to live in Scotland, using Cisco technology to collaborate with stakeholders across the world.

Donald has 20 years experience in the ICT industry. Joining Cisco in 1999 as an Account Manager in Software Sales, he then quickly progressed into a management role, leading the UK Contact Centre Solutions team within Business Development. Donald went on to take over as Regional Sales Manager for the Commercial Mid Market team in the North, which he led for almost four years before taking on management of the UK Local Government team in 2006.

Donald has also been part of the Cisco worldwide Business Leader Programme. This development combined with his broad experience and leadership capabilities make him an ideal candidate for his new role based in Scotland.

Outside work Donald is married with two sons and is a keen golfer and musician.
